Starting with professional photography seems a little overwhelming sometimes. Taking your first DSLR and trying to understand it feels difficult, but trust me that is not a thing you should worry the most. The struggle for me was not to learn using the camera as a beginner photographer, it started later. My photographs never looked professional and I use to wonder why. And I found out that there are some basic technicalities that need to learn. So in this article, I am going to help you understand the basics of photography that every aspiring professional photographer should know.     Exposure Triangle   Exposer triangle has 2 words ‘Exposer’ and ‘Triangle.’ Exposer means how much light is reaching your camera sensor and the triangle shows us the 3 camera settings which we can use to control the amount of light reaching there. 10 photography ideas during quarantine period


These are tough times for us all, many of us will be spending way more time at home over the upcoming few weeks and I just wanted to see if I could do something to help. So, I’ve put together some photography ideas you can do while you’re home. Break the monotony of your days and bring some joy in these dark times.

1. Portrait Photography




Make your siblings or anyone in your family a model and take some good portrait shots, practice some good and dramatic lighting techniques. Here is a video on the one light setups for portraits. By doing this you can practice your lighting skills and also generate great shots for your portfolio free of cost.



2. Self Portrait



Whether you are a portrait photographer or not, now is a great time to turn the camera on yourself. Creating self-portraits has several benefits. Firstly, it puts you in the shoes of the subject. Learning how to relax in front of the camera, in turn, help you understand how you can help others relax. Moreover, it’s a lot of fun. You will come away with some good images and some bad, and gain some experience in dealing with the challenge that comes with getting the exposer right, the focus accurate, and the composition tight, it’s a challenge, but a good one. 3. Macro photography

If the lock down doesn’t allow you to see the big picture, see the small one. Macro photography is about shooting small things up close. Surely you have flowers, textured walls, pets, and many other cool-looking objects to use as subjects. There many ways to take macro shots, like inverting your camera lens and take a shot, which is the cheapest way to go macro. There some other ways like buying a macro lens, buying macro filters, etc.  



4. Product Photography



Everybody has a product in their house which looks good like deodorant, a perfume bottle, a watch, etc. just take one with a nice background which also can be a card sheet paper. Add some elements related to the product and put them in the frame. And just start shooting your product. if want to shoot products here is a small video for beginners on product photography



5. Food Photography


Obviously, this gets easy if you can cook and style food, but that’s not a necessity, you can also shoot some packed food by using simple styling tricks. You can shoot cookies, chocolate bars, beverages, etc. with some good lighting techniques you can rock this genre. 



6. Flat Lay Photography



In the simplest term: a flat lay is a photograph taken from directly above. Beneath, there’s a flat surface that serves as the backdrop and staging ground for the subjects of the photo. In most cases, the subject is items that have been arranged on the surface like vignette, lay flat in place. You can shoot several things like food, product, musical instruments, clothes, etc.


7. Double Exposer



Double exposer is the art of blending two pictures into one to make it look artistic and extraordinary. You can do this through editing applications on your PC or smartphone. The catch here is you need to shoot 2 photos one of which should be dark and the other should be bright.

8. ICM (Intentional Camera Movement) Photography


A camera is moved during the exposure for creative or artistic effect. This causes the image points to move across the recording medium, producing an apparent streaking in the resulting image. This technique produces some great photos, all you have to do is move your camera intentionally during exposure. Here is a simple tutorial of ICM photography


9. Astrophotography


Astrophotography is simply shooting stars. For the most part, astrophotography divides into two styles. There are long exposure shots, showing stars streaking across the sky in a dizzying array of circles. Then you have short exposure shots, which are your more traditional glamor photos of the Milky Way. You just have to stay a little at night and start shooting from the terrace of your building.


10. Light Painting



light painting is like shooting starts, but instead of start, we use different light sources to make a painting in the air during the exposure. We can use a mobile torch, mobile screen with different images on it, a sparkling stick, etc. this is a cool way to click long exposers. It is a fun way to bring out your imaginations and paint in the air and see the great result you get.
