Starting with professional photography seems a little overwhelming sometimes. Taking your first DSLR and trying to understand it feels difficult, but trust me that is not a thing you should worry the most. The struggle for me was not to learn using the camera as a beginner photographer, it started later. My photographs never looked professional and I use to wonder why. 8 tips to earn money as a photographer in Quarantine

The coronavirus outbreak has caused a lot of trouble to many businesses out there, but weddings are among those who are affected the most due to this pandemic. Many photographers had to cancel the pre-booked projects, they are having a great difficulty to find any events to shoot. As the government is not allowing a lot of people to gather in one place, the photography studios are shut down.

Now the question for the photographers out there is, how to earn while we are not allowed to go out? So I have come up with some ideas to earn while we are staying at home using our photography and editing skills.

     1.  Sell Stock Photographs

As a photographer we all have some of our great photos stored in our devices or for sure we can create new content while we are home. Guess what, we can make money with these photos, by putting them out there on stock photography websites where people can buy copies of our photos. Here is some more information on stock photography and photography ideas at home. you can sell your photos on Gettyimages and Shutterstock

     2.     Create a home product photography studio

Now when I say to create a studio, it doesn’t mean you have to spend a lot of money here, all you need is some good lights and a little open space. You can earn money by taking product photography assignments. Just look for a company that needs their product to be photographed. You can find some assignments on websites like Upwork or Freelancer.

     3.     Photo editing Assignments

If you are good with Lightroom and Photoshop then you can earn money by taking some photo editing assignments of the past clients or you can put a word out on your social media profile about it. There are some websites like Fiverr where you can find some projects. I have a gig on Fiverr which could help you edit your photos called infinitography

     4.    Market Upsells Like Photo Albums

Your Past clients finally have time to think about their happy times like weddings or childhood. Now is the perfect time to pitch the idea for designing their albums, to upsell them purchasing prints and albums. By doing this you can earn money and they get to check this item off their to-do list.

     5.     Start Blogging

Didn’t you always wanted to blog and had to postpone it because you didn’t have enough time? Well, now you got plenty of time to write it and publish it. There are some sites like Blogspot or Wordpress where you can start blogging for free. Just create your account and start blogging.

     6.     Create an online Workshop

We have learned a lot and if you feel like you can give some of it back to the community, you can always create a paid workshop for the newbies looking forward to photography and teach them something you are good at, like lighting techniques, composition, etc.

     7.     Sell Lightroom Presets

With the years of experience in this field, you may have learned to make presets in Lightroom. Now is the time to make some good presets and sell them online. Here is a tutorial to make Lightroom presets.

     8.     Sell Photoshop Actions

Same like Lightroom presets you can sell Photoshop actions online. Just do some research on what type of actions are most needed by people and make them. Sell them on your social media or on your website. Here is a tutorial to make PhotoshopActions.

     9.     Bonus

This is a kind of the most important tip of all. Maintain good relations with your past clients because they can help you find projects now and in the future.
